New Sports Center in Round Rock supports city motto as “Sports Capital of Texas”

The Round Rock Sports Center had one goal in mind when they opened its doors to the public for the 1st time in January 2014- to attract the best athletes and biggest events in Texas. Now more than a year later- they are doing just that. The new facility, located in Round Rock, TX whose motto is the “Sports Capital of Texas”, is now serving thousands of athletes a week. From AAU  basketball & volleyball teams, to summer camps, to expos & conferences, the Round Rock Sports Center has proven itself to be a valuable contributor to the Round Rock community.

Robbins exclusive dealer in the area, NAH Sports Flooring, installed & finished the new floors, while working closely with RRSC and the architectural firm, Marmon Mok, as well. When asked why Robbins flooring was chosen for the new facility, Brian Stillman, Operations Coordinator, said “We knew during pre-construction that we wanted the Sports Center to be a top of the line athletic facility, and that the floor itself would be the crown jewel of the complex. With our history in the field we knew that Robbins was the company that would make that happen”.

The impressive 82,500 sq. ft. state of the art facility features more than 50,000 sq ft. of Robbins Bio Cushion Classic sports flooring for 6 basketball & 12 volleyball courts, as well as 10,000 sq. ft. of Sportwood Ultra Star in 9 multi-purpose rooms. The new facility is home to various youth basketball & volleyball leagues, hosts hundreds of tournaments throughout the year, and serves as a space for events, concerts, and speaking engagements. Year over year, Robbins dealers install thousands of new sports floors. In a space like Round Rock, the flexibility of the floor is equally important as the safety. When asked how they would rate the quality of the floors and what the reaction from athletes has been, Stillman stated “10! To be a high end facility we had to have a high end floor. Our core users are AAU basketball and volleyball teams, and we wanted to make sure that our floor had good bounce, was low-impact to the joints, and that there were no ‘dead spots’. The Bio-Cushion Classic floor has met and exceeded all of those expectations. The players and coaches absolutely love playing on our floor.  Most all of them have played on lesser quality floors at other venues, and they always want to come back and play here after they have been here for the first time”.

The Round Rock Sports Center is truly an impressive facility for recreational and competitive youth sports programs. It continues to receive recognition both locally, and nationally, for its outstanding design and contribution to athletic programs. RRSC was a finalist in the Robbins 2014 Sports Surface of the Year Contest, and is featured in the June Architectural Showcase issue in Athletic Business magazine.

From basketball leagues to wedding expos, Round Rock Sports Center will continue to support the city’s efforts to remain as the “Sports Capital of Texas” by promoting youth sports programs & community events for many Round Rock generations to come.
