Pete Mathews Coliseum, Jacksonville State University: SSOTY Finalist

The Pete Mathews Coliseum at Jacksonville State University installed by Covington Flooring Company, is a featured finalist of the 2015 Sports Surface of the Year contest. The coliseum recently underwent a $2M renovation which included a new gymnasium floor. Robbins dealer, Covington Flooring Company, has had a good relationship with Jacksonville State since they installed a Sportwood gym floor in 1986, and for this reason was chosen to install the new floor. Jacksonville State selected the Bio-Channel SB for its low profile design, which is a perfect match for facilities with retrofit needs. The school also desired a high-performance floor with an upgraded graphical appearance. Covington customized the new floor with a combination of paints and stains on the 1st grade Maple backdrop. A total of 9,500 sq. ft. of new flooring was installed. The renovation was completed in September 2015, just in time for basketball season.
